Astrophil and Stella (3 of 4)

Publication Date: January 20, 2011

Chapter: English Literature in the Sixteenth Century

Sidney was writing this sonnet (number thirty-seven, quoted in its entirety), to a woman named Penelope Devereux Rich. Which is to say, yes, almost every damn line in this poem is a terrible, terrible pun.

Also, appro of nothing, but Cadbury Creme Eggs suck out loud. Just throwing that out there.

Author: Philip Sidney • Year: 1591 • Info: Wikipedia
