Hero and Leander (14 of 15)

Publication Date: February 17, 2011

Chapter: English Literature in the Sixteenth Century

Poor Leander. All he wanted to do was (suicidally) swim across a raging sea to visit his love. He probably never planned on getting dragged underwater by (a probably drunk) Neptune, who mistook Leander for his old god pal Ganimed. Thankfully, Neptune swiftly realizes that his "old pal" is apparently drowning and/or dead and shoots him back up to the surface. Still, how does one mistake Leander for a god? Dude's not very godlike. Goddess like, yes. Godlike, no.
